Methesulah Lanes
Just an update on the lane project. Samples are out, some have been received, others in transit. The goal is still a synthetic replacement lane with a retail under $3k, installed, with a lifetime warranty. I am still not decided on the date to introduce it into the US market. I may work with distributors, but the goal of affordability is paramount. To many independent centers, the cost of lane replacement/capital improvement becomes an onerous proposition. To stay competitive in this business requires major investment. If the cash isn't under the mattress, it will not be easily found at this time. My concern is the number of independent centers that cease operation in answer to the problem of improve or die. There are a considerable number of independent centers up for sale. Busy, urban centers are going well and most have the cash flow to modernise. The smaller independent has a tougher time. A lot of the operators entered the industry as part of a lifestyle, not just business, choice. That means they make a living, but instead of the pleasure coming from a substantial bottom line, it comes in being self determining and being an important business in the community. To them, a new $35k lane machine means a major cut in their annual income. For the good of the industry, they need to stay.
I think it iis these centers that will most benefit from having access to affordable capital improvement equipment. It could make the difference between staying in the industry or not. Staying in is good for them, their community, the industry, and people like me who have made a living in this industry.
What a sales pitch!
